Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Ballistica is a ballistics calculator for iPhone. It has no user accounts and no sign-in, and the
developer does not run any server that receives your data. This policy explains exactly what leaves
your device, who receives it, and how to turn it off.
1. Data that stays on your device
Your rifles, loads, saved setups, range sessions, target photos, logged shots, stages, chronograph strings,
unit preferences and theme are stored on your device. They are never sent to the developer or to analytics.
2. iCloud sync (Apple)
If iCloud sync is on (Settings › iCloud Sync), the data listed above is stored in your private
iCloud database using Apple CloudKit. It is protected by your Apple Account; the developer cannot
access it. Turn sync off at any time in the app, or remove the data in the iOS Settings app under
your Apple Account › iCloud.
3. Weather, location and motion sensors
Location is used only when you ask Ballistica to fetch live atmospheric conditions (a Pro feature),
and only with your permission ("While Using the App").
- When you tap to fetch weather, your device's coordinates are sent once to
Apple
Weather (Apple WeatherKit) to look up temperature, pressure and humidity for that spot. Before
they are sent, the coordinates are rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km), so Apple Weather
never receives your exact position. Apple handles the request under
Apple's Privacy Policy.
The developer does not receive it and does not run a weather server.
- Ballistica adds no account, device identifier or other personal data to the request.
- Ballistica does not store a location history. Your latitude may be used on the device to
calculate the Coriolis effect; it is not sent anywhere for that purpose.
- The phone's barometer and motion sensors (Core Motion) are read on the device only, when you tap
"Use phone barometer", "Measure" for the shot angle, or the cant level. These readings never leave
your device, and Ballistica keeps no motion history.
4. Camera and photos
- Camera: used only when you choose "Scan QR Code" to import a rifle or load that
someone shared with you. The camera image is processed on your device to read the code; it is
never saved, uploaded or sent to the developer or to analytics. The permission can be revoked at
any time in the iOS Settings app, and everything else keeps working.
- Saving to Photos: when you choose to save a session share card, Ballistica adds
that one image to your photo library (add-only access; Ballistica cannot read your existing
photos). The image stays on your device unless you share it yourself.
5. Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
To find crashes and understand which features are used, Ballistica uses Google Firebase Analytics and
Firebase Crashlytics. They collect:
- Crash reports and diagnostic data (stack traces, device model, iOS version, app version)
- Performance data
- Product interaction (for example "screen viewed", "saved setup created", "backup exported")
- A random app-instance identifier generated by Firebase, so events from one installation can be
grouped. It is not your name, email, Apple Account or advertising identifier, and it resets if you
delete the app.
This data is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not used to track you
across other apps or websites. Ballistica does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
Turn it off: Settings › Privacy › Share Anonymous Analytics. When off, Firebase
Analytics and Crashlytics collection is disabled on your device.
Google processes this data under the
Firebase privacy and
security terms.
6. Purchases (Apple)
Ballistica Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. The developer receives no
payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase.
7. Backups you export
"Export Backup" creates a file containing your rifles, loads, saved setups, sessions (including
target photos), logged shots, stages, chronograph strings and unit preferences. The file goes only where you choose to save or
share it.
8. Children
Ballistica is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from
children.
9. Your choices and rights
- Turn off analytics and crash reports in Settings › Privacy.
- Deny or revoke location, camera or photo-library access in the iOS Settings app; everything except
live weather, QR scanning and saving share cards keeps working.
- Turn off iCloud sync, or delete the app to remove all data stored on the device.
- For any privacy question or request, email us at the address below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest
version.
